Mo Painting
Weather was quite nice today, after the rain last night. The high was 81, It is supposed to get down to 60 tonight.
I worked painting bathhouse ceilings today with Phil, another volunteer (we have two volunteers named Phil). This Phil and his wife came in last weekend. She is a nurse, volunteering in one of the on-site infirmaries, and he is retired from the aerospace industry. He attended Tri-State, where I received my degree, for a couple of years but finished his degree somewhere else while working.
Phil "trimmed" and I rolled. Our top priority was finishing the priming in the women's side of the Meadowland bathhouse. We typically are supposed to wait until around 9 to start, so that the girls/women have time to take morning showers, etc. At 10:45 we still had not been able to start because it was so busy. The guy we are working for stopped by and said it was time for the girls/women to use another facility. There is one reasonably close to this one. He had someone bring out signs that said the women's side was closed until 5 PM. We were able to finish it before 1 PM, when we finally left for lunch. After we got back from lunch we put a finish coat of paint on the entire mens/boys side.
I rolled on two gallons of paint in all that time. It doesn't sound like much but when you consider that each side has 4 shower stalls, 4 toilets, a long length of counter with 4 lavatories, numerous recessed lights, numerous registers and exhaust grills, motion detectors, emergency lights, etc to paint around, it takes a long time.
Tomorrow's plan it to start putting a second finish coat on the mens/boys side at 8 AM. We will work on it until 10 AM and then close the womens/girls side to put the first finish coat on it. Hopefully we will be able to get the first finish coat on the women's/girls side and the final finish coat on the mens/boys side tomorrow.
Have I mentioned that I am getting REAL tired of painting <grin>. All I would have to do is say, "I want to do something different for a couple of days." and they would find something else for me to do; but the painting does need to be done. (Dan, what is it that we called the work we did?)
Kathy's day was equally exciting. She input camper/parent evaluations into the computer all day.
Goodnight to all and may God bless you and yours.
