Apple Blossoms

Image
This is the most blossoms we have ever had on our two dwarf apple trees. No laughing about the way they lean. I kept them staked for 3 years and finally got tired of trimming around the stakes. I took the stakes down and if the trees fall over so be it. I took the photo this morning. The ground is so muddy that I won't be shocked if the trees do just tip over. Our crab apple trees in the front, and our lilac, will be in full bloom in the next several days. We have had asparagus twice, from our patch. I think there is one blossom on the strawberry plants. Still cool & rainy but I don't think we are supposed to get rain tomorrow. No action on the house. Someone did come look at it this afternoon but they did not appear to be interested. Probably time to start dropping the price.

Happy Easter

Image
Easter dinner is over. It was a little cool, and quite wet, for the Great Easter Egg Hunt of 2011. I think this year there are still 5 eggs missing out of 10 dozen. I hid them and I can't find the missing ones. After some outdoor games the girls have settled in for the afternoon. Some are playing cards and some are watching a Netflix movie. I think we had 21 for Easter dinner. Not as many as some years, but still a pretty good crowd. I never cease to be amazed at how much fun teenage girls seem to have hunting Easter eggs. I lead such a sheltered, and blessed, life. I'm sure that I can't even begin to imagine what some of these girls have been exposed to in their young lives.

Tires & Other Stuff

We had new Michelin tires put on the rear of our motorhome before we left. You don't want to know the cost. Just the balancing cost $100, $25/tire. As soon as we hit the new pavement a few miles south of Lebanon, when we left for TN, we knew we had a problem with the balancing. We drove about a 1,000 miles over the two weeks and things didn't get any better. One "good" thing about being a Hoosier is that, in general, our Interstates are so crappy that you can't even tell your tires are out of balance. We could sure tell it in KY & TN. I called the local tire shop, where I bought the tires, on Monday and took it in Tuesday morning. They still have it. They have ALWAYS been fair with me and I expect the same this time, it is just a bother. They actually took the tires some other place to have them balanced the first time, I'm not sure what they are doing this time. On my way to the tire shop I stopped by a body shop that had done some work for me in the past...

Back Home Again In Indiana

Had an uneventful trip back to Lebanon yesterday. Worked at the Lafayette South plant today but am working at home tomorrow. Take the motorhome in tomorrow so that they can rebalance the new tires tomorrow. If you want to see our tax dollars at work check out this video.

All Packed Up

We have the CRV all hooked up and ready to head out in the morning. All we have to do is unhook the electric cable, pull in the slides and run the CRV for a few minutes to lube the transmission before heading for Crossville. We went out for Mexican tonight. It was good and inexpensive. We both had more than we wanted to eat, but I managed to working on mine until I got it all ate. Kathy was smart enough to take some of hers home with her. The bill was less than $20. It got down to 32 last night and is supposed to be in the 30's again tonight. The sun was out a little during the day, at least it was some of the time I was out of the office. I think tomorrow and Sunday are supposed to be relatively nice. Sunday we head for Lebanon.
