Tires & Other Stuff

We had new Michelin tires put on the rear of our motorhome before we left. You don't want to know the cost. Just the balancing cost $100, $25/tire. As soon as we hit the new pavement a few miles south of Lebanon, when we left for TN, we knew we had a problem with the balancing. We drove about a 1,000 miles over the two weeks and things didn't get any better. One "good" thing about being a Hoosier is that, in general, our Interstates are so crappy that you can't even tell your tires are out of balance. We could sure tell it in KY & TN. I called the local tire shop, where I bought the tires, on Monday and took it in Tuesday morning. They still have it. They have ALWAYS been fair with me and I expect the same this time, it is just a bother. They actually took the tires some other place to have them balanced the first time, I'm not sure what they are doing this time.

On my way to the tire shop I stopped by a body shop that had done some work for me in the past. I asked for a quote to fix the damaged fiberglass on the motorhome. There are two small damaged areas. One is maybe 4"x4" and the other is 1"x4". A 12" square floor tile would cover both spots. The guy couldn't do the job because of the EPA! He can't get the motorhome in his shop and the EPA won't let him paint outside. Ain't government grand! If those jack asses in DC were as worried about our deficit and debt as they are about such earth shattering things such as how many sheets of toilet paper I use, the budget problems would be solved. I bet they are already doing studies on how to tax farts.

I worked at home yesterday and today. I got in around 11 billable hours which isn't bad for an old, nearly retired guy. I went to Lafayette on Monday and will go up there again tomorrow.

We had at least 5 girls for Math & Science tutoring at Teen Challenge on Tuesday evening. Everything went well. I only had to shake the cobwebs out of my brain once or twice.

Kathy and I went out for a short walk tonight. We went towards 52, which is no more than a quarter mile away. She remembered to bring a big trash bag and we had quite a bit in it by the time we got back. We still have to go to the west. It is a lot further and if tonight was an indication we better take 2 trash bags when we head that way.

Tomorrow is breakfast with Hillman and then neighborhood supper tomorrow night. It will be good to catch up with local goings on.
