In Tennessee

We arrived at our property in TN (actually we are at Tom & Mary Lou's, Kathy's brother, campground) around midnight. No problems but traffic was heavy most of the way. I drove our pickup and pulled a U-Haul trailer and Kathy drove the motorhome. Last night we just pulled in and went to bed. This morning we will get parked in "our spot" and hooked up to utilities.

We saw quite a few places in KY & TN with $3.39/gal gas.

We did not close on the house, more broken "promises" from the buyers real estate agent and their lending institution. I honestly feel sorry for the poor buyers. They, especially Jennifer, are totally stressed out. After thinking about it I bet Greg is the same, he just doesn't let it show. They had to pay over $12,000 to get out of the house they sold, and had lived in for several years. Now the mortgage company that pre-approved the loan, is jacking them around. No one thinks there is any real problem, it is just having to deal with a bunch of CYA, incompetent jack asses. Our realtor said this is the norm today because everyone is now afraid to do anything, because of all the incompetence that came to light during the mortgage crisis (appraiser's not doing their job, mortgage companies not even verifying employment, etc.). Now everyone is afraid to do anything. Where is government when you need them? I don't want more regulation, you already get writers cramp from all the "disclosure" forms you have to sign at closing, but I would like to hear that some of the bozo's who didn't do their jobs ended up in jail. Instead the self-serving scum in DC gave them bail out money. Enough of that,  no sense getting to worked up this early in the AM <GRIN>.

We were supposed to close Wed AM, the Thur, then  absolutely no later than 1:30 PM Fri. When the 1:30 closing was postponed I told our realtor that I was tired of being yanked around and that we were leaving for TN. We would come back to close once everything was done and we knew they were ready to close. He got together with the buyers realtor and put some pressure on the title company. They ended up preparing all the paperwork we need to sign so that we could sign the papers before we left.

I'm sure some of Greg & Jennifer's stress was because they had to be out of their previous house by Friday, they closed on it early Wed AM, and according to their contract with us we had possession of our house until 24 hours after closing. If we had stuck by the contract they would have had to move their furniture to storage and stayed in a motel, or possibly with his folks for several days. On top of that both would have missed more work moving their furniture back of storage. Even though we tried to reassure them that there would be no "possession" problems, I'm sure they were wondering what else might muck up their move. There were still moving in when we pulled out.

We will unload our "stuff" today. One of our first priorities will be to get a mail box and set it up. Monday Kathy, or maybe Kathy and I, will take the pickup and trailer back to Lebanon to drop off the trailer at the U-Haul place. Doug is "storing" the pickup and she/we will drive the CRV back to TN. (We are supposed to pick up the check for the house first thing Tue morning, but we aren't holding our breath)

It is beautiful here this morning. So quiet. Kathy is sleeping in, something she rarely does, but richly deserves. She has worked HARD getting us moved out of the house. That along with the stress of getting closed on the house and then the 8 hour drive to TN would wear anyone out. No doubt as soon as she gets up a team of horses wouldn't be able to slow here down. She will be at it hard again.

May God bless you and yours.
