Crossed State Line

Derek said our trip is now official since we have crossed a state line. We are parked at Mom's pond near Coldwater Lake, MI.

Had no problems on the way here but did have a couple of interesting events occur. We left Lebanon around 1 PM. We went down to 465 then started up 69. We stopped at exit 14 and had Subway for lunch. We hit a stretch of road that made Kathy ask if we were back in Lebanon (referring to the absolutely terrible stretch of I65 through Lebanon). A few miles later some people passed us and the guy had his arm stuck out the drivers window, like he was going to make a left hand turn. We figured they weren't running the AC and he was just trying to cool off. A couple of vehicles later another car passed us and the driver was doing the same thing. We thought this to be quite strange, until I took a good look in the drivers side mirror and saw that one of our bay doors had popped open and was sticking out like a wing. No harm, nothing lost, I just stopped and closed it and relocked it. I think it must not have been completely latched when I locked it before leaving home.

Maybe an hour later a Fed Exp box truck passed us. When the guy pulled back in front of us the driver popped his tail lights on and off, a signal of thanks. Since I had not flashed my lights I was not sure why he was thanking me but... Then his brake lights flashed a couple of times and he slowed down to the point where I had to slow to around 45 mph to keep from running over him. He then picked speed back up and continued down the highway. After the bay door coming open I was wondering if he might be trying to tell be of another issue. Within a mile or so the Fed Exp truck pulled into a rest area. I followed them in and was out near the truck when the passenger and driver got out. They were Pakistani or Indian (maybe). I asked them if they were trying to signal me about a problem and they said no. The driver said he was saying thanks with the first flash and then had problems getting his cruise reset. That was why he hit the brakes. They were quite pleasant. I thanked them and we again headed for Mom's.

Parked at Mom's. It was a little muggy last night but we didn't need to run the generator to keep the AC going. Just opened the window and turned on the exhaust fans. It is 9 AM and I just kicked the AC on to dry things out a little.
