Thanks Harvest

I have one more week to attend Harvest Community church. The people at Harvet have been a blessing to me. I don’t have the words to describe how thankful I am for the young families who stepped out in faith and started Harvest approximately 10 years ago.

At Harvest I have been blessed to be able to participate in “church” similar to what it was in New Testament times. (This is not intended to “knock” other organizations. God did not create us to all be the same. We all are different and He has different niches for us to fill. Each of us has to decide what style of church provides us with the best environment for our Christian service and growth.) I don’t have the words to adequately thank these families for what they have meant to me.

I accepted Christ as my Savior in 1982, while attending a small United Methodist church in rural, central Illinois. After moving to central Indiana in 1992 I attended numerous churches. Some helped me in my Christian walk; others I attended just out of habit. Watching the people at Harvest strive to be the people God wants them to be reawakened in me the desire to be more of what God wants me to be.

I love bluegrass and classic country music. To grab a phrase from the title of a country song, “I’m Just an Old Chunk of Coal (But I’m Gonna Be a Diamond Someday)”. I’m certainly far from perfect. I will continue to be a sinner, but one saved by Grace, until the day God decides that it is time for me to leave this world. Spending time with people like those at Harvest has hopefully helped be progress towards being that diamond.

PS. Harvest meets at the Indy Sportsplex; 5964 S. 700 E; Whitestown, IN. For anyone in the area who is interested worshiping with a group of people who will truly care about you, worship starts at 10 AM. Come early to meet people, and have coffee, donuts, fruit, juice, etc.

    We'll miss you greatly, Bert! I always love hearing you share at our gatherings and your personal words of encouragement. You are gifted in that area. I hate that I won't see you as often any more, but it's also exciting to see someone else getting serious about taking "church to the people"! Don't forget to vote while you're driving around. ;). May 19th - Mt Ranier

This morning I went to Walmart to get a prescription refilled. On the way back I snapped the photos below. It is quite interesting how people level off an area on the side of a hill and build houses. The spots you see, half way up the hillside, are homes.  The white hump in the center of the photo below is Mt. Ranier. It is about 70 miles from where I took the photo. We decided to go take a closer look at Mt Ranier today. That required retracing about 70 miles of what we drove yesterday, but we figured it was worth it because the scenery is breathtaking. We stopped along the road and I took a photo of the road ahead. The "line" across the photo is the road as it goes across the face of the "mountainside".  This is a photo of the the slope over the side of the guard rail. Apr 24th - Pick Up Kathy

Yesterday and today the weather was scheduled to be partly sunny. It drizzled rain on and off all day yesterday and all morning today. There is some sun right now. Yesterday I painted the carpet ball game and this morning Frank put on the finishing trim. It is now 100% complete. At 7:30 this morning I went up to the bathroom I have been working on, move the toilet base from outside to inside and turned the heater on so that everything would be warm for the new wax ring. Then I went back to the RV and had breakfast. After breakfast I went back and set the toilet. I went out and turned the water on ( the valve we had initially shut off served a pair of trailers). I was surprised at the very low water pressure. I couldn't imagine how anyone could take a shower with such low pressure. I kept playing with the valve in the toilet tank trying to get some water. Sept 22nd - Tried Out 0the New Saw

I cut a couple of logs in two with my new chain saw. It did OK, but I'm not going to like the "break-in" procedure. You aren't supposed to run it at full throttle for the first couple of tankfuls of gas, that is going to take FOREVER. The "good stuff" that I have been cutting is HARD. Cutting 15-20" diameter logs at less than full throttle is a pain. I forgot to include this photo in one of my previous posts. Kelsey took it the morning Kathy was in the hospital. Lydia had been smiling but when I asked Kelsey to take the photo the smile went away.  Kelsey & Lydia left Kathy a note the evening that she had surgery. Kathy was still out of it and barely remembered them being their. The note on the side says, "We love you Grammy". It is signed Love Kelsey & Lydia.  Below is part of our wood pile.
